Well, I would not mind kicking the habit, or cutting down.  Just got to find a good alternative.  Here is an article:

 Pop! goes the soda habit

Maggie O'Neill
Reno Gazette-Journal
The Worldwatch Institute and other watchdog groups tell us that soft drinks are the third-most popular beverage in the world. People in the United States continue to consume sodas at a rate that alarms health experts, with such drinks representing nearly one-third of our total beverage consumption.
Consider a few reasons to stop or limit your soda drinking. The acid in soda is bad for teeth, and the high sugar content is linked to weight gain. Also, questions exist about the safety of artificial sweeteners in diet sodas.
Here are some tips to help you crush the soda habit.

  • Identify a reason you want to stop. Is it because you want to lose weight? Are you addicted to caffeine? Do you just want to get close to drinking those eight glasses of water a day?
  • Anyone wanting to give up soda needs "to have a good reason as to why they want to stop," says Barbara Cox, a registered dietitian and nutritionist in Reno, Nev. Clearly know that reason, and you will find your goal more focused.

  • Find a beverage that works as a replacement for soda.

"What I would recommend is finding something to drink that is zero-calorie like water," Cox says. "Water's the best."
  • Drinks like Crystal Light, iced tea or flavored water also could be alternatives, she says.

Some people find that iced water is more palatable than lukewarm tap water, she says.

  • Decide whether to give up soda cold turkey or to do it on a gradual basis.

"It depends on the person," Cox says. "Some people need to do it gradually and some of the more compulsive personalities need to do it all at once."
  • Bindee Eberle, a sports dietitian also from Reno, agrees, but says going gradual might be a better option.

"A lot of times doing something drastic doesn't always have the desired long-term effect," she says. Small changes, like swapping one soda a day with an alternative, can help create a "can-do, let's-try-another-one" attitude, says Eberle.

  • If you are trying to stop drinking soda to cut out caffeine, replace soft drinks with an "uncola," such as Diet 7Up, Cox says. All 7Up products are caffeine-free.

  • To deter soft-drink cravings, eat a breakfast that includes protein, carbohydrates and a small amount of fat.

"I believe one of the biggest driving needs for a soda, whether it's diet or regular, is a drop in blood sugar," says Eberle. "The one thing that I would recommend to help people drop the soda habit is to eat a good breakfast. It gets your body going."
  • A drop in blood sugar presents a craving later on. Eberle suggests a bowl of oatmeal with skim milk, scrambled egg whites and spinach, and a piece of toast or yogurt and fruit for breakfast.

  • Keep snacks close by to help during soda cravings.

"It's sometimes difficult to find a snack, so it's important to bring snacks to work," Cox says. "A protein-and-carb snack is much better than drinking a soda."
  • Consider string cheese, fruit, peanut butter and crackers, or a nutty trail mix.

  • Eat regularly throughout the day to keep blood sugar stable. "When your body is not craving the sugar, you don't go for the craving," Eberle says. "It's very easy to kick the habit that way."

  • Identify your triggers. Do you want a soda every time you hop in the car? Right before that 3 p.m. meeting? Or during a tough phone call?

Make sure you have an alternative to a soft drink available.

  • Pay attention to what happens when you begin substituting alternatives to soda. See if your mood swings are gone, if your headaches have dissipated or if you are losing weight.
  • Seeing the connection can help drive you toward your goal.

    By the numbers
Soft drinks are the most consumed beverage in the United States. Contemplate these 2005 statistics from the Beverage Marketing Corporation, as noted at the American Beverage Association's Web site, http://www.ameribev.org:

  • In the United States, 28.3 percent of beverage consumption came from soft drinks.
  • Water totaled 11 percent of consumption.
  • Milk, 10.9 percent.
  • Coffee, 9 percent.

I have cut out about 90% of the soda I used to drink, mostly because of the carbon dioxide.  I still get plenty of caffeine (Revive with Vivarin! ::sgrin:: ) and sweet stuff (I like Target's Berry Fitness Drink Mix, which is sugar-free, and their Sugar Free Mandarin Mango Green Tea drink mix as well), but I have noticed that I have a lot fewer aches and pains throughout the day :)

In the past couple of weeks, I have developed a taste for a nice glass of ice water.  I have been drinking several every day.

I also like Crystal Light lemonade.

We used to drink alot of pop...but as the girls got older and more health conscious, they just decided they didn't want it anymore...and as a result...my husband and I don't drink it much anymore either.  I've gone from 2-3 a day to 1-2 a week.  And yes, I drink alot more water now.
