Look at how simple the ingredient list is:

Cream, skim milk, sugar, egg yolks, natural vanilla.

Good luck finding an impressively simple list like that in ordinary ice cream or packaged food products in general!

Their focus on the highest quality ingredients just rocks.  Their vanilla is awesome, that's all I have to say, just like all their other flavors.  When you operate on the level they do in terms of quality, I will enjoy any flavor.

I love their vanilla bean, and the vanilla bean from Breyer's ice cream as well.  Breyer's also has simple ingredients:

 

INGREDIENTS: MILK, CREAM, SUGAR, NATURAL FLAVOR, NATURAL TARA GUM.

Yeah but Susan, "natrual flavor" isn't the same as genuine natural vanilla and .. tara gum? Watch out, nothing gets bitter like an ice cream debate. :) I do like Breyers vanilla, though.

You have a point on "natural flavor"...it could be natural vanilla and/or any other natural substances.  The "natural tara gum" is from the tara tree...here is info on the tara tree, if anyone is interested:

I do not usually like Rocky Road, but I do like theirs.

Stop the presses, muddawber and I agree on something. ;) I was just going to mention my own homemade vanilla frozen custard (since it has eggs, it's a custard, not a cream). Vanilla (real vanilla, the kind you scrape out of a bean so it makes those wonderful little specks all through the stuff), cream, sugar, eggs.

THEN...I get really crazy and top it with:

My homemade kaluha (I know that's not spelled right but I don't feel like looking it up right now - someone feel free to correct me) fudge sauce
Big chunks of roasted salted almonds (salt does marvelous things for chocolate)
Whipped cream - the real stuff, whipped just till it holds its shape

and, if I'm feeling really crazy, slices of a just-ripe banana.

Now THAT'S a sundae.

Friday, April 11th. A red letter date. ::rotfl:: Erinna and muddawber thought alike. This is scarey, but we are right, the best ice cream is home made. I have crunched up soft peppermint sticks, and put in the mix, and made excellent peppermint ice cream. I've also used fruit, but plain old vanilla is best.

Oops, there's that edit thingy again. Need to learn how to spell, I guess, or type, or both.
