I have gotten a bug up my butt that I want to make some BBQ ribs.  Not sure why.  Found one recipe that looked good (will have to post it in full in a bit).  Basically you marinate the ribs in a mix of molasses and Balsamic vinegar..for about 4 hours.

Then you cook it up in a covered pan for an hour and a half, put more mixture on and cook for another hour and a half uncovered.

I think the aroma would make me crazy waiting for it to be done.  I plan to go off looking for more, but if you have any tried and true recipes, lets have em.

COUNTRY RIBS & BARBECUE SAUCE

Our thick, rich barbecue sauce adds a homemade taste to any grilled meat.

Preparation time: 15 min   Cooking time: 2 hrs  5 min   Grilling time: 25 min
Yield: 6 servings (3 cups sauce)

Sauce Ingredients:

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2  cup (1 medium) chopped onion

1/3   cup Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 (28-ounce) bottle ketchup

1 (6-ounce) jar prepared mustard

2 tablespoons vinegar

1/2 teaspoon chili powder

Ribs Ingredients:

6 pounds country-style pork ribs

6 cups water

Combine all sauce ingredients in 3-quart saucepan. Cover; cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sauce comes to a full boil (10 to 15 minutes). Reduce heat to low. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thickened and flavors are blended (1 to 1 1/2 hours). Strain sauce, if desired.

Meanwhile, place ribs in 4-quart saucepan; add water. Cover; cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until water comes to a full boil (25 to 30 minutes). Reduce heat to low. Cook until ribs are fork tender (30 to 35 minutes). Drain; pat dry.

Heat 1 side of gas grill on medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white. Place coals to 1 side in charcoal grill. Make aluminum foil drip pan; place opposite coals.

Place ribs onto grill over drip pan. Grill, turning occasionally and brushing with sauce, until desired doneness (25 to 30 minutes). Serve with additional warm sauce.

Recipe Tip
Ribs are precooked to shorten grilling time.

Well, call me slow, but here is the recipe I mentioned in the first post of this thread.

SWEET AND STICKY RIBS

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS:

½ cup molasses
½ cup balsamic vinegar
1 rack pork spareribs (about 3 pounds)

PREP:

Mix molasses and vinegar.  Pour ¼ cup into a 2 gallon food storage bag.  Add ribs, turn to coat.  Refrigerate at least 4 hours.

Heat oven to 325 degrees F.  You will need a foil lined roasting pan with a rack.

Place ribs on rack (discard bag).  Sprinkle with 1 tsp each salt and pepper.  Cover with foil, bake 1½ hours.  Meanwhile, in a sauce pan, simmer remaining molasses mixture 5 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Brush ribs with mixture; bake, uncovered, 1 to 1½ hours until tender. Cut to separate individual ribs; drizzle with remaining molasses mixture.

I've had a similar hankering for BBQ ribs over the past two weeks. My first attempt was to slow roast them on the grill outside, but they turned out too tough.

I tried another recipe I found that instructed to mix a cup of orange juice with a bottle of store-bought BBQ sauce, drown ribs in the mixture in a baking pan, and cook covered with foil for at least 2 hours at 250 degrees. After that I grilled them on the BBQ, but since I was using my friend's gas grill for the first time I burned one side.

Next time I'm going to use less OJ and try coooking them in a foil covered pan for 3 to 4 hours at 200 degrees before finishing them on a charcoal grill.
