This is a rather tongue in cheek site about the evilness of tomatoes.  Along with some facts to prove this claim, there are tomato games, and tomato-free recipes.  http://www.tomatoesareevil.com/

Here is one recipe:

NO TOMATO SAUCE LASAGNE

Love lasagna but know tomatoes are evil, even in sauce?
Now you can enjoy your favourite pasta dish tomato free!
With this no tomato sauce lasagna recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

12 ounces very lean ground beef
1/2 cup beef broth/stock
12 ounces wide lasagna pasta
2 cups alfredo sauce (see below)
1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water until just tender. Drain Well.
While pasta is cooking, brown the ground beef in a nonstick frying pan coated with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, add browned beef and broth.
Toss together.

ASSEMBLING THE LASAGNA:

Spread 1 cup of the alfredo sauce on the bottom of 9x13 inch baking pan.
Add 3 strips of lasagna noodles.
Spread half the beef mixture on top.
Lay 3 strips of lasagna noodles.
Spread the remaining beef mixture on top.
Add 3 strips of lasagna noodles.
Spread the very top with remaining white sauce.
Sprinkle with grated mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 25-35 minutes.
Serves 10

Fresh tomatoes off the vine are some of the healthiest foods you can eat!  I use to love eating them like that...........now, the acid burns my tongue if I eat more than a couple!    I can still eat them cooked, but it would be fun to try this dish just to see how it tasted!  What's lasagna pasta?  Wouldn't that have tomatoes in it?

The only tomatoes I can eat are the yellow, low-acid ones.   I'm allergic to the red ones.  We plant both kinds because my husband loooooooves the red ones!  We've planted heirloom ones this year, and some of those tomatoes are supposed to be PURPLE!!!

Yes, tomatoes are evil. They have a split personality. They don't know if they are a vegetable or a fruit. is it a or is it

Tomatoes are a fruit.

No confusion needed.

They are great, as an ingredient in a breakfast, lunch or dinner. Great in a salad, great as a sauce, great as a soup.

This post brought to you by the world tomato council.

When I was younger, they were a vegetable. I grew up that way, I'll die that way.  I eat them as a veggie. Old habits die hard. Of course, when I was a kid, the moon was made out of cheese, too.:lmao:::bullwink::

Actually, what differentiates a vegetable from a fruit is that when something continues to ripen once it has been picked, it is a fruit.  Hence; tomato is a fruit.

I could pluck a tomato off the vine, rinse it in the garden hose and eat it just like you would an apple.  YUMMMMMMMM.

UTR, that is the best way to eat a tomato.  When I used to grow them regularly I got spoiled on them and hated store bought.  I will have to get back in the groove of planting them again.

Thanks for posting this Marie ::nsmile::

Tomatos are great for many people and have a lot of wonderful nutrients in them.

When I was younger my uncle lived out in the country and would bring bags of tomatos every summer for us "city-folk".

I used to eat them all by themselves and loved them. Later my dad started plants in the backyard and it was a treat to go out, pick one, rinse off under the spigot and eat.

Spaghetti is something I remember as very enjoyable with a hunk or two of buttery garlic bread on the side. My first boyfriend was Italian and I think we visited every Italian restaraunt in the city in the four years that we dated.

For those of us that who develop an allergy or food intolerance to tomatos the experience can be excrutiatingly painful, therefore we are always on the lookout for alternative methods to prepare the foods we used to enjoy.

I was looking for a good Alfredo recipe - gosh but I love Alfredo! I'm going to try the Bechamel sauce as well.

Thanks again Marie!
:D
