These green long lasting things that are supposed to keep veges fresh. I tested them on some banana's and after about 5 days the banana's are still yellow but really mushy inside anyways. Maybe I should have put them in the fridge. But anyways they seem to work good. I just know I will have vegetables from my garden that I want to keep fresh.

    Has anyone else used these green bags? And on what.

Yep!  I put some carrots in a green bag about two weeks ago, and they're still bright in color, firm and look like the day I bought them.  I'm putting some tomatoes in one and a fresh head of lettuce in a seperate one, pretty soon!

Amy, if you have a Bed and Bath store near you, just buy the box there.  Mom and I bought a box with 20 bags, and each paid $9.00.  Just be sure to tell everyone in the house NOT TO THROUGH THEM OUT!!  :giantgrin:

I gave my mom the box to keep hers in, but if you have the box it should tell you.  I just assume you can, I know you don't just throw them away after one use.  It might tell you not to use soap, or just cold water.  If you find out, let me know would you librty?

I've seen those bags on TV a lot.  If they work, that's great, but the commercial makes no sense to me. 

The commercial claims that this harmful gas that the vegetables/produce gives off is what harms them, but if that's the case, wouldn't you want the bag to absorb the gas, rather than keeping it inside?  :blink:

Brian!  Have you kept produce in open air?  It doesn't stay fresh very long.  I've only had mine for two weeks now, but the carrots sure look fresh..........

I've kept things like fruit in open air.  You're certainly right that it doesn't last long.  I've always assumed that's because the air got to it.  I know that's true, but the commercial seems to emphasize the gas.  I haven't seen it in at least a few days, so I can't be 100% sure about this, but I don't remember a comparison between regular plastic (e.g., Ziploc) and these bags.  I'll take your word for it, though.  ::thumbs::

Thats why I tested them on bananas, they do seem to keep things fresher, but like I found out they still get mushy. These may be a fridge thing. I kept one banana in the open air and it's brown now.
