It was a cruel world to one Italian New Yorker yesterday.  Yesterday I stopped in the bakery like I usually do with my pre-school daughter, after I pick her up from school, to buy her two cookies as a treat ... anyway, I often pick up a loaf of Italian bread because they make it so great and I knew we had cold cuts at the house .. and they only had seeded!  Not a big deal you say, but understand, when you are spoiled with great bakeries and are used to having real Italian stuff, it can be.  FOOD = LOVE in my neck of the woods.  I haven't had seeded in a long time because I rarely get "stuck" having to buy it because of a lack plain.  I have to have plain for my sandwiches or just in general.  Don't care for that toasted seeded taste.

Anyway, feel sorry for me ... it can be a cruel, cruel world ...

Susan, if I whipped out some frozen italian bread I could get my ass kicked by another real Italian!  It might be worth sneaking it but I don't believe I would enjoy the taste.  I am too spoiled by fresh.  The bread I eat was made hours before and only lasts the day.

It's one of the few areas I spoil myself in.  ::shades::

Frank, it's time to learn to make your own Italian bread!  You can borrow my KitchenAid stand-up mixer and whip ya' up some.  I love baking bread.  It is a very good release for frustration as you have to knead the who-ha out of the bread to get that complex lattice of holes in the final product.  C'mon, you can flex your Italian muscles and make artisan bread as good or better than the baker's!
